Roy Keane and Ian Wright have disagreed over Marcus Rashford’s loan move to Aston Villa from Manchester United.. The Reds’ academy graduate completed a surprise transfer to Unai Emery’s side during the January window, having also been linked with a move to Barcelona and Juventus. It came after Rashford fell out of favour under Ruben Amorim, having not played for United since the 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen on December 12 last year.. Rashford could make his debut for Emery’s side against Tottenham in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Sunday (kick-off at 5.35pm). The 27-year-old will also have the chance to impress in the Champions League this season with Villa through to the last 16 in March.. But Keane has questioned whether a move within the Premier League could reignite Rashford’s faltering career. The ex-United skipper suggested that United’s standing might make it challenging to see how Villa could provide a fresh impetus.. “It is sad but has been on the cards the last year or two. Clearly they didn’t get on,” he said on ITV.. “The strange thing is I thought he’d go abroad for a new adventure, but to go to Villa surprised me. If he has lost the hunger at United, how is he going to get it at Aston Villa?”. However, ex-Arsenal forward Wright offered a contrasting viewpoint. The Gunners icon defended Rashford’s stance and pointed out that Villa are currently outperforming United in both domestic and European competitions.. “We know where United want to be, but he is going to a team performing better,” Wright said. “We can’t disrespect Villa and what they have done.. “If he can go there and recapture his form, he is a good player. We will see, everyone talks about body language.”. “When you lose the hunger it is hard to get it back,” Keane retorted. “You can’t compare Aston Villa to Man United. How can he have the hunger there if he doesn’t have it at United?”. Wright replied: “He has done great for United here but maybe it is time to leave.”. Keane simply reinforced his point. “I thought he’d go abroad for a new environment,” he said. “He will still be based in Manchester, still have his crew around him, whatever.”.
