Man City player ratings vs Leyton Orient with one 4/10 as Nico Gonzalez debut goes wrong

Manchester City survived an almighty scare to book their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup.. Backed by a buoyant Brisbane Road, Leyton Orient took the game to Pep Guardiola’s side from the beginning and were rewarded early on when Jamie Donley scored a wonder goal that bounced off the crossbar and in off a flailing Stefan Ortega. At the other end, Josh Keeley made a number of top saves to keep City at bay.. With both centre-backs replaced at half-time, City improved with John Stones on the pitch and took control of the game as Rico Lewis equalised when his shot went in off Abdukodir Khusanov. Kevin De Bruyne then came off the bench to score the winner. Here are the player ratings from the game.. Ortega: Made a good save early on, although it never looks good to concede from so far out. 5. Lewis: Looked vulnerable whenever the ball went over his head but stepped up to strike for the equaliser and impressed going forward. 6. Reis: Orient targeted his side with Lewis and had some joy. He showed decent composure but City were rocked. 5. Dias: Tried to lead and cut a frustrated figure for much of the half he played as he could do little to change the tide. 5. O’Reilly: Looked a fish out of water all game, with more than one teammate frustrated at the different wavelength he was on. 4. Gonzalez: Robbed of the ball for the opening goal and then off injured after 20 minutes. As debuts go, not great. 5. Gundogan: Another game where he somehow ended up playing at 6, and too often he didn’t connect with Marmoush. 5. McAtee: Nothing he tried really came off, with some neat and clever play failing to materialise into anything substantial. 5. Savinho: Caused some problems early on and kept forcing his man to run, even if the final decision wasn’t always there. 6. Grealish: Too pedestrian at the start, but he became more effective as the game went on. 6. Marmoush: Should have had a penalty and forced the keeper to make some good saves. 6. Substitutes. Silva (for Gonzalez, 22) Brought some needed calm to the team and had one cleared off the line but still made some basic errors. 6. Stones (for Dias, 46) City’s best defender, helping them to be stable and play in the right tempo. 7. Khusanov (for Reis, 46) He’ll take the luck of the first goal and he was better defensively. 6. De Bruyne (for O’Reilly, 72) Good run, good goal. 6. Foden (for McAtee, 72) Willing to get on the ball and run. 6. Not used: Carson, Akanji, Nunes, Mubama
