Manchester United dressing room reaction after late Everton drama speaks volumes

(Image: Chris Brunskill/Fantasista/Getty Images). Manchester United players have been relatively quiet on social media following the comeback 2-2 draw with Everton on Saturday, with just a few giving their response to the game.. United found themselves 2-0 down at half time of their final game at Goodison Park thanks to goals from Beto and Abdoulaye Doucoure. In fact, United looked to be heading for defeat with their first goal not coming until the 72nd minute when Bruno Fernandes beat Jordan Pickford with a free kick into the bottom right corner.. It took just another eight minutes for United to draw level through Manuel Ugarte who scored his first goal for the club since signing in the summer. It set the game up for an entertaining final 10 minutes as both teams could sense a winner.. United were given a reprieve in added time after referee Andy Madley pointed to the spot for an Everton penalty. However, the decision was overruled after a VAR check, with the game ending in a draw.. Following the match, Ugarte took to social media to resond to his first United goal. “We wanted to bring the win home, but it wasn’t meant to be,” he wrote on his Instagram account.. “Happy and proud of my first goal here. Let’s focus on the next one.”. In the replies was injured United star Amad, who responded with two heart emojis in the replies. The winger faces the rest of the season on the sidelines with an ankle injury.. The game appeared to change following the second half substitution that saw Alejandro Garnacho enter the field. After the match, the United winger posted a picture of him in action along with the caption “Much better second half” along with a saluting emoji on his Instagram story.. Both goalkeeper Andr Onana and Casemiro have shared images from the game on their own Instagram stories, but neither have added a caption to the snaps.. The lack of response on social media is indicative of the situation the Reds find themselves in at the moment and Fernandes stressed the need for United to improve after the game, telling TNT Sports: “We have to do much more, me first. Everyone has to lift standards of each other and end the season in the best way possible. We had our chances second half, but we started late. We didn’t have enough movement.. “We need to start the games better. Every time we concede a goal and we are down is when we start playing and taking risks.”. Article continues below.
