Luke Littler lost to Gerwyn Price in the Premier League Darts.(Image: PA). Luke Littler, the world darts champion, attempted to quieten the Dublin crowd during his Premier League Darts defeat to Gerwyn Price on Thursday night.. Welshman Price – donning a green shirt in an attempt to win over the home crowd – triumphed 6-4 over Littler, landing five 180s with a match average of just over 102. Despite last week’s overall nightly win in Glasgow, Littler struggled against Price, at one point telling fans to hush after he hit double 12 when aiming for a single 12.. He managed to regain composure and finish off a 109 checkout to reduce the deficit back to 4-2. However, the 18-year-old couldn’t replicate his Scotland comeback when he was 5-1 down against Rob Cross.. ‘The Iceman’ Price – crowned world champion in 2021 – secured his fifth consecutive win over Littler, who vented his frustration by throwing his darts to the floor as he exited the stage. Price later defeated Nathan Aspinall 6-3 in the final to clinch night three, having earlier overcome Luke Humphries with a 6-3 comeback win.. Aspinall had fought his way to a 6-3 victory over Michael van Gerwen in the semi-final, after previously defeating Rob Cross for his first match win in this year’s event. Price, however, continued his strong run and precise finishing to gain an essential break in the seventh leg of the final before landing on 18 to edge closer to victory.. With Aspinall unable to catch up, Price narrowed down to a match-winning double top – which he then hit with aplomb on his following throw, marking a smooth performance with another game average over 100. Speaking to PDC.tv after clinching his first nightly win in the Premier League since April 2023, Price said: “It was a great night for me. I am not sure why it is, but Luke Littler seems to bring the best out of me.. “So that was a great game to come through.. Article continues below. “Then to beat the world champion was big for me. I felt like the crowd got me through that match. It was like I was playing in Cardiff again. I started a little bit slowly against Nathan. I missed a couple of opportunities, but I found my feet and I’m really glad to get a vital five points.”. “I felt like I was playing well last year, but I was missing chances and then getting punished. This year I’m taking my chances, I’m playing really well and the results are now coming.”
