Gethin Jones has revealed he’s been booted off the dating app Hinge multiple times after being reported for catfishing by 300 users.

The Welsh presenter began his career on Blue Peter before going on to front shows like The One Show, This Morning, and his current role on Morning Live. He’s also been a contestant on Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity MasterChef.

With a packed schedule, Jones turned to Hinge to help navigate his love life. While he attracted plenty of attention on the app with hundreds of right swipes, many users were convinced his profile was fake—leading to multiple reports and, ultimately, his removal.

The BBC Morning Live host, 46, shared in a new interview: “A couple of weeks ago, I was kicked off Hinge twice in eight hours for violating the Code of Conduct. 300 women had reported me for catfishing.”

As he told the new Restless Natives podcast with Martin Compston & Gordon Smart: “It was that moment when you have to write to Hinge, on a Thursday night, all alone, ‘Dear Hinge, it’s Gethin here, 46, I just want to get my money back because it’s not really working for me’, eating some cereal because there’s nothing in the fridge.

“That’s when I’m like, ‘What am I doing with my life?’”

Despite his public profile, Jones has kept his love life mostly private. He was previously engaged to opera singer Katherine Jenkins in 2011, but they split just 10 months later.

He previously described their 2011 breakup as “awful,” and later admitted it left him struggling with depression.

He told the Mirror’s Outdoors in Mind: “I was engaged and then breaking up, afterwards, or even during that period, it was just awful.

“I remember doing BBC Radio 5 Live and going into the toilet at 5.30am going, ‘All right. Come on. Just focus for the next three hours, and then you can go back to being sad again.’ I definitely had a bad bout of depression during that time.”

Over the years, he’s been linked to TOWIE’s Lucy Mecklenburgh, German model Katja Zwara, and First Dates star Cici Coleman.

Elsewhere, he recently announced that he and Morning Live co-star Helen Skelton will take on a 24-hour roller-skating challenge for Comic Relief, calling the cause “more important than ever.”
