While playing golf with Sir Alex Ferguson, Stephen Hendry learned that Cristiano Ronaldo had joined Manchester United. Interestingly, the seven-time world snooker champion confused the Portuguese superstar with Brazilian legend Ronaldo Nazário, who is set to celebrate his 93rd birthday on Wednesday. Hendry detailed the confusion during a conversation with ex-United goalkeeper Ben Foster. “I once played golf with him [Ferguson], and he was constantly on his phone,” Hendry recounted on the Snooker Club podcast. “I was at Gleneagles when I received a phone call from someone I knew. This person asked if I could play a round of golf with Alex Ferguson, as he didn’t play himself but was connected to Ferguson.” I replied, ‘Uh-huh, uh-huh’. While on the phone, a guy asked, ‘What are you up to?’ He mentioned, “I have a deal in progress.” He mentions, ‘We are signing Ronaldo.’ And I thought to myself, ‘Wow, Manchester United is bringing in Ronaldo’ – the Brazilian Ronaldo.
