Ruben Curley, a young player, expressed that it was a “very difficult choice” to leave Manchester United for Stoke City on the last day of the transfer window. As the deadline approached on Monday, Stoke presented a late proposal to acquire the 19-year-old on a full transfer. He first joined Stoke’s Under-21 team, signing a contract for two and a half years. Curley was with United for ten years and contributed significantly to the Under-18s’ achievements in the previous season. Last season, he played in 29 youth matches, netting three goals and providing three assists. Nonetheless, his contract at Old Trafford was set to expire at the end of this season, and it’s reported that United did not intend to activate the one-year extension in his contract to retain him until 2026. He will now pursue his growth at Stoke with the goal of making it into the first team of the Championship club. In an Instagram farewell to United, Curley expressed, “Manchester United has been my home for the last 13 years.” I have created lasting memories and formed lasting friendships, along with all the incredible experiences this club has provided me. I want to express my gratitude to all my coaches and staff over the years for their support during both the good and bad times, which has helped shape me into the player and, more importantly, the person I am now. I want to express my gratitude to all my teammates and wish each of you the very best in your future endeavors.. Instagram. Making this decision has been very difficult, but I believe it’s the appropriate moment for me to transition and embrace new opportunities. I appreciate @manchesterunited and all the supporters who contribute to the uniqueness of this club.. “Once a red, always a red.”
