Tyrell Malacia, a defender for Manchester United, has officially joined PSV on loan for the rest of the season, as confirmed by both teams on Tuesday evening. PSV is reportedly set to pay Malacia’s entire wages, and the agreement was completed after the UK transfer deadline due to the additional day allowed in the Netherlands’ winter window. The Manchester Evening News reported Monday that Manchester United plans to include an option for PSV to make the loan permanent, which marks Malacia’s return to the Netherlands. Although Malacia had previously consented to transfer to Benfica, negotiations collapsed over the option to buy at season’s end, which proved to be a significant issue. Additionally, an Italian club withdrew from discussions about signing him earlier in the transfer window. Now, with his move to PSV finalized, Malacia aims to secure consistent starting positions with his new team. He sought the loan to regain his form and fitness after being sidelined for 18 months due to a serious knee injury requiring two surgeries. Since making his comeback in November, he has participated in eight matches, but in five of his six starting games, he was substituted at halftime, including in a match against FCSB in Romania. Manchester United acquired Malacia from Feyenoord for €15 million (£12.9 million) in the summer of 2022. It has been proposed that United has included a 30 percent sell-on clause in the transfer agreement.
