Ruben Amorim must give a debut in Manchester United vs Leicester City in FA Cup

When Manchester United approaches a team like Lecce, it’s usually expected that a deal will be finalized. Lecce has historically fluctuated between Italy’s second tier and the top division, with their highest achievement in Serie A being a ninth-place finish in the 1988/89 season. United felt confident that they would secure an agreement to sign Patrick Dorgu, and the defender completed his transfer to Manchester just before the transfer window closed. Dorgu signed a contract lasting until the summer of 2030, with an option for an additional year, and United paid €30 million (£25 million) for the player, with a possible €5 million (£4 million) in performance-related add-ons. This transfer fee is nearly double what Lecce previously received for a player, so while they aren’t in dire straits, they will be pleased with the amount they got. Additionally, if Dorgu performs well, it could be a worthwhile investment for United. United last added a left-back to their roster in the summer of 2022, when Tyrell Malacia transferred from Feyenoord. He proved to be a typical back-up player recruited from the Eredivisie. Malacia has now returned to the Netherlands, signing on loan with PSV for the balance of the season, and Dorgu aspires to make a bigger impact than Malacia did during his time at Old Trafford. “I am immensely proud to be a Manchester United player; this is a very special day for my entire family,” Dorgu expressed when his transfer was announced last weekend. “I am eager to collaborate with Ruben Amorim; his vision for this team and the club’s future is incredibly thrilling.” I have a well-defined plan for my growth, and I believe that Manchester United is the ideal environment for me to realize my potential and achieve my significant goals. In describing his contributions to the team, Dorgu mentioned on United’s club website: “I believe I will bring a great deal of intensity and physical presence to the game.” Plus a great deal of energy and running. Dorgu stated, “This is a major club; it’s the largest club in England.”
