Manchester United are just three games away from nightmare Ruben Amorim scenario

Manchester United could face another Premier League suspension blow in their forthcoming top-flight games. A number of players have been forced to miss action due to suspension already this season.. Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, Manuel Ugarte and Academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo have all been forced to miss one game in the first half of the season. Players who collected five yellow cards within the first 19 matches of the campaign were made to carry out a one-game ban.. Now, the threshold has been refreshed and extended to 10 yellow cards meaning players who pick up 10 bookings will be given a two-match suspension. Right now, United have three players sailing close to the wind.. Martinez has picked up three yellow cards in his last four games, meaning he is currently on seven all-told for the season. As and when selected by Ruben Amorim, then he will be walking a tightrope over the upcoming games to avoid a two-game ban.. Maguire and Ugarte are currently on six each, and would need to be booked another four times to be suspended. Mainoo is on five, while Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt and Amad have received three yellow cards so are someway off the revised threshold.. Following Sunday afternoon’s 3-1 reverse to Brighton, Amorim will need his best possible squad available to him. With a Europa League double-header on the way and FA Cup action sandwiched in between three league games, United could still turn their season around.. United meet Rangers and FCSB in Europe before welcoming Ruud van Nistelrooy back to Old Trafford in February against Leicester in the FA Cup.. Martinez was, meanwhile, omitted from the starting XI against Brighton on Sunday afternoon. Amorim decided to start De Ligt, Maguire and summer signing Leny Yoro in his back-three..
