Marcus Rashford’s transfer value plummets as Man United face £25m nightmare amid PSR reality

Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford’s transfer value has plummeted in just four years as he eyes up a new challenge away from Old Trafford this January.. Rashford has found himself out of favour in the past month, having been dropped from the squad that travelled to Manchester City in the Premier League. A few days later, an interview emerged with the forward that expressed his desire for a new challenge away from his boyhood club.. Since then, Rashford has only made a matchday squad once, but he was an unused substitute in that game against Newcastle United. With the January transfer window now open, and in full swing, rumours have been at fever pitch as to where he could end up next.. AC Milan are thought to be the favourites while Barcelona, Arsenal and PSG have all been linked with the forward. The Manchester Evening News have reported that Rashford has rejected transfers to Saudi Arabia and Turkey as he searches for a switch that could revive his career.. Sadly for United, Transfermarkt’s (TM) analysis reckons they have lost £25million from Rashford’s value in just over three years. In December 2021, the wantaway United star was valued at a whopping £71.4million, which is the most he has ever been valued at.. But following inconsistent form, and his age increasing, his value has decreased according to the site. It’s believed now that Rashford is worth as little – in relative terms – as £46.2million.. To put this into context, he has not been worth less than this since he was a 20-year-old making his way at United. It’s still lucrative for the Reds to sell Rashford if his heart is set on a future elsewhere.. With Ineos battling to avoid Financial Fair Play (FFP) and PSR concerns, selling Rashford would be considered as a positive as – in accounting terms – any money made would represent “pure profit” for the club.. However, there will be some regret among the United decision-makers that his value has been allowed to drop so significantly just at the point that he wants to leave.. Try MUFC Pro NOW for free.
