Cesc Fabregas can give Man United green light for vital transfer amid brutal FFP reality

Cesc Fabregas’ Como might trigger a chain reaction in the January transfer window that could assist Manchester United in getting rid of one of their surplus players. United are in a tough spot as the January window approaches, which could hinder their efforts to enhance their team. MEN Sport reports that there will be no funds available for transfers this winter after spending over £200 million during the summer. As it stands, United is dangerously near the Financial Fair Play (FFP) limit. Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been implementing cost-cutting strategies at Old Trafford to tackle this issue, but the fact remains that United will need to sell players in order to invest during this window. It appears that they may have the chance to do so in January from an unexpected source. Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Fabregas, now managing Como, is said to be looking to acquire Real Betis winger Assane Diao during this transfer window. Reports suggest that negotiations are going well, and a deal may be finalized soon. If that occurs, Diao’s present La Liga team would seek a replacement this winter. Spanish media source ABC reports that Real Betis is considering struggling Manchester United winger Antony as a potential target. The Brazilian has faced difficulties since being brought in by former manager Erik ten Hag and has not justified his £82m transfer cost. Clearly, United would not be able to ask Real Betis or any other club for £82m for Antony, given how much his value has declined. The goal, however, is to recover some money and remove his salary from the expenses so that United can reinvest in either a much-needed striker or a right-sided wing-back. Try MUFC Pro NOW for free.
