Man United can finally complete transfer mission for player Erik ten Hag wanted as £54m door opens

It has been reported that Manchester United had the opportunity to purchase Erik ten Hag’s primary striker target for £67 million in the winter transfer window. Ten Hag identified his desired signing prior to his second summer as manager, after the club invested approximately £3 million to loan Wout Weghorst during the middle of the 2022/23 season. Ultimately, Rasmus Hojlund joined the team before the new season commenced. Additionally, United brought in Joshua Zirkzee last summer; however, it soon became clear that the club was in need of another striker. Ruben Amorim has come to understand the challenges of not having either player available for the match against Crystal Palace and relying on Kobbie Mainoo in the forward position at Old Trafford. Nevertheless, if Ten Hag had his preference, another England international would have spearheaded the attack last weekend. According to MEN Sport, almost two years ago, the former manager was eager to acquire Kane. However, Tottenham Hotspur transferred Kane to Bayern Munich for £100 million just a week after Hojlund joined Manchester. The forward signed a four-year deal, but recent reports indicate that there is a release clause in the contract. According to a report by Bild, a German newspaper, the clause was set at £67 million this winter, but it will drop to £54 million when it becomes available again next January. Allegedly, the clause will not be activated this summer. Following these assertions, The Telegraph states that Premier League teams were aware of the valuation while the transfer window was open. Kane is reportedly content in Germany and has no intentions of returning to England in the near future. The report also identified Manchester United as one of three teams that should consider acquiring the England captain, alongside Chelsea and Newcastle United. They have recognized that Kane had shown interest in joining the Reds in the past. However, it is reported that Tottenham can match any offers from other clubs for their leading goal scorer.
