Manchester City were dumped out of the Champions League as Real Madrid cruised to a 3-1 win.. Already facing an uphill battle after conceding two late goals in the first leg in Manchester, Pep Guardiola’s side were weakened before kick-off when Erling Haaland pulled out with injury. And the tie was as good as over inside the opening six minutes in Madrid as Kylian Mbappe scored and then John Stones went off injured.. Mbappe added another two as a toothless City side were given the exit their performances this season have deserved, despite Nico Gonzalez grabbing his first City goal in consolation. Here are the player ratings for the game.. Ederson: Made a couple of decent saves but didn’t look great for the opening goal and more awry distribution. 5. Khusanov: Struggled against Vinicius and Mbappe, as was always expected. Not terrible though. 5. Stones: City had barely restarted from conceding when Stones went down and the stretcher came on. Disaster. 5. Dias: A basic error to get City off to the worst possible start. He battled gamely after that but it never looked like being enough. 5. Gvardiol: A desperate dive for the second goal and stood off for the third. Decent going forward. 5. Gonzalez: Had some minor successes helping City to recover balls high up the pitch but couldn’t influence the game despite his late goal. 5. Silva: Played in about four different positions and never looked more than a firefighter in any of them. 5. Gundogan: Looked beaten and regularly was beaten as a speedy Real left him flailing. 4. Foden: Looks a shadow of the player who scored such a brilliant goal here last season and he couldn’t get in the game. 5. Savinho: The experiment to try him inside didn’t work and he looked lost for large spells of the game. 5. Marmoush: Always a difficult task to replace Haaland and he didn’t have a chance all match. 5. Substitutes. Ake (for Stones, 8) Unable to stop the siege City found themselves under. 5. McAtee (for Foden, 77) The game was over. 5. Kovacic (for Gundogan, 77) The game was over. 5. Not used: Ortega, Carson, Lewis, Nunes, O’Reilly, Doku, Grealish, De Bruyne, Haaland
