Harry Kane continued his fine goalscoring form for Bayern Munich at the same time as Manchester United laboured to a 2-1 win over Leicester City on Friday night.. It comes amid reports in German publication Bild that Kane’s contract includes a release clause, which could have allowed him to leave for £67million this winter. The report suggests that this clause will drop to £54m this summer, a development that may pique United’s interest as they grapple with their goalscoring issues under Ruben Amorim.. Joshua Zirkzee did at least add to his goal tally for the Reds during Friday evening’s win over the Foxes, but the Dutchman and Rasmus Hojlund have netted just 12 times between them this season. Other reports this week have claimed Sir Jim Ratcliffe sees Kane as his ‘dream’ signing for United.. And whilst United again looked toothless up-front, Kane, who was of interest when Erik ten Hag was in charge, scored a brace for Bayern against Werder Bremen. The England captain has now netted 28 goals in all competitions, the same number of goals United have scored in the Premier League this season.. Kane is as close to a guarantee of goals as you can possibly get. Scoring 72 times for Bayern over a season and a half may not have given the German club a trophy yet, but they are well on their way to doing so with a nine-point lead in the Bundesliga after 21 matches.. There would be one or two concerns for United, though, if they did consider making a play for the former Tottenham striker. At 31 years old, he is only likely to face a decline in performance and an increased risk of injuries.. It’s also highly probable that Kane would turn down any offer from Old Trafford. With all due respect to the Reds, why would he choose to leave a stable club like Bayern, where he has an immediate opportunity to win trophies, for the current turmoil under Amorim?. Ultimately, whilst signing Kane would solve a lot of problems the mechanics of a deal mean that any hope of him wearing a United shirt one day may have passed..
