Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Kanye West have announced a new collaboration despite the former being behind bars.
The 55-year-old music mogul, who is currently in prison awaiting trial on multiple charges related to alleged sex crimes, has teamed up with West, 47, on a limited-edition clothing line featuring three new shirts.
West first revealed the partnership between his Yeezy brand and Combs’ Sean John label on Instagram, writing: “YEEZY SEAN JOHN COLLAB AVAILABLE @ YEEZY.COM ME AND PUFF SPLITTING THIS 50/50 LIKE WE DISCUSSED BEFORE THEY LOCKED HIM UP.”
He also shared a video with Combs’ son, Christian ‘King’ Combs, who simply said: “It’s up.”
Diddy later acknowledged the collaboration by sharing a screenshot of the announcement, writing: “Thank you to my brother @Ye YEEZY.COM.”
West has also been vocal in his support for Combs, calling for his release and describing him as a “hero”. Taking to X, he ranted: “THEY TRYNA PROVE A POINT AND YALL KNOW THAT… THIS MAN GAVE HIS LIFE TO US THIS MY IDOL THIS MY HERO.”
He further claimed that authorities are “trying to make an example” out of Combs, insisting, “white people trying to use Puff to scare n**s.”
West also alleged that Combs is not allowed to earn or collect money while incarcerated, adding: “I JUST FOUND OUT THAT PUFF IS NOT ALLOWED TO MAKE OR COLLECT MONEY WHILE HE’S LOCKED UP SO I’MA SEND HIS HALF OF THE MONEY TO JUSTIN.
“WHOS EVER AFTER PUFF WE GOTTA FIND OUT EXACTLY WHO THEY ARE OK COOL PLAY OFF THE GRID. MY HEART HAS NOT JUMPED NOT ONE MOMENT TODAY I GOT STEEL IN MY VEINS GOD MODE… PUFF WE LOVE YOU”.’
Shortly after his initial post, Kanye West appeared to claim he had been locked out of his Instagram account. Sharing a screenshot on X, he wrote: “ELON THEY KICKED ME OFF OF INSTAGRAM SO HAPPY YOU BOUGHT X (sic).”
Meanwhile, Combs remains at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, a facility that has previously housed high-profile inmates like R. Kelly and rapper 6ix9ine.
Reports recently surfaced that Combs was rushed from the high-security prison to Brooklyn Hospital late last week after complaining of severe knee pain from a previous injury. According to the New York Post, an MRI scan was requested and authorised, though Combs was not believed to have stayed overnight.
When questioned about the reports, a Bureau of Prisons spokesperson told press: “For privacy, safety, and security reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for anyone in our custody, to include medical status or medical trips.”
Last year, investigators raided Combs’ Miami and Los Angeles homes, where prosecutors allege they discovered “1,000 bottles” of baby oil and lubricant purportedly used in what they described as “freak offs.”
Diddy remains behind bars as he awaits his May 5 trial, following a series of failed bail hearings before three separate judges. Arrested on September 16, 2024, he faces federal racketeering and sex trafficking charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty.
If convicted of racketeering, the former hitmaker could face life in prison.
