Man City sent Liam Delap warning as three pundits all make the same Ipswich prediction

Manchester City will make the long trip to Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League.. After a run of just one win in 13 matches, City looked to have turned a corner in recent weeks with wins over Leicester, West Ham and Salford City.. But doubts over their defensive frailties crept back in on Tuesday as they surrendered a two-goal lead in their 2-2 draw at Brentford.. It meant City started the weekend in sixth place in the Premier League table, three points adrift of the top four and 12 points behind league leaders Liverpool.. They now take on a Tractor Boys side who are in the relegation zone but who possess former City striker Liam Delap in their ranks.. Delap has scored eight goals in the Premier League and one pundit has backed him to score against his former employers on Sunday.. With that in mind, here is a look at how four prominent pundits see City faring on their trip to Suffolk.. Chris Sutton. The former Blackburn and Celtic forward told BBC Sport: “After a couple of encouraging games, Ipswich’s home defeat by Brighton on Thursday was a disappointing result and performance.. “Manchester City did not get the win they wanted either, slipping up late on at Brentford just when people were thinking they were back in a bit of form.. “Still, Erling Haaland’s new contract is great news for City and will give their fans a bit of a lift in what has been a difficult season. I would not be surprised if he celebrates it with a goal or two.. “Ipswich can make it difficult for them, especially Liam Delap who is facing his old club. I think Delap will score, but City will win.”. Sutton’s prediction: Ipswich 1-2 Man City. Harry Redknapp. The former Tottenham Hotspur manager told BetVictor: “Ipswich have looked more solid in the last few games but as a result, they’ve not been as threatening going forward. I’m a big fan of Liam Delap up front but he was so isolated against Brighton and it was a really tough task for him.. “Manchester City just look so vulnerable at the back; I don’t know what’s going on. To blow a 2-0 lead at Brentford so late on is so unlike them, that sums it up for me. Pep Guardiola’s clearly desperate to get some players in but I’m curious to see how much impact they’ll have; it always seems to take players a while to settle in this City side.. “Despite the form, I’m going for City, just!. One to watch – Erling Haaland signed a massive contract this week and it would be typical of him to find the net here!. Redknapp’s prediction: Ipswich 1-2 Man City. Paul Merson. The Sky Sports pundit told SportsKeeda: “No one is scared about Manchester City anymore! They don’t intimidate teams like they used to and that is quite evident now. Usually when you watch City, even if they don’t win, they end up destroying the other team. But just look at how Brentford opened that game up in midweek, that’s not the City we’ve known over the years.. “Even the West Ham game was a false result. All of Newcastle, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest, and don’t forget Villa, are actively involved in the race to finish in third and fourth this season. It’s going to be a tough battle and I don’t think City will finish inside the top four! They have some terrible fixtures coming up after this, including a Champions League clash against PSG. City are a bit all over the place and If they continue to play like this, good luck to them!. “If Ipswich beat Brighton later tonight, then they will have a real go at City. And if that’s not the case, then I don’t think they have a chance against City to be honest. Out of Leicester, Wolves and Ipswich, I will always back Ipswich as the team with the best chance to avoid relegation though. In fact, I think they will avoid the drop!. “I’m not buying it when people say City are back. They don’t look like their old self at all. But they will win here.”. Merson’s prediction: Ipswich Town 1-2 Manchester City. Mark Lawrenson. The former BBC Sport pundit told Paddy Power: “Manchester City are not back to where they were but they’ve stopped losing and they’ve started scoring.. “It looks like they could have some reinforcements by the time this comes around. Ipswich will fight hard but you have to back City to win.”. Lawrenson’s prediction: Ipswich 0-3 Man City
