Man City transfer wishlist emerges with six stars on it including shock move for ex-player

The January transfer window has begun, and Manchester City may look to bolster their team. Pep Guardiola’s team has had a difficult few months, falling in the Premier League standings, being knocked out of the Carabao Cup, and facing the threat of elimination from the Champions League. While City secured a vital 2-0 win against Leicester on Sunday, it marked only their second victory in 13 matches across all competitions, and they still need to put in more effort to turn their season around. Guardiola’s team is currently in sixth place, trailing fourth-place Chelsea by four points and leaders Liverpool by a significant 14 points. Discussions have increased about the possibility of City being interested in the January transfer market to strengthen their squad and enhance their performance for the second half of the season. According to The Mirror, City have stepped up their interest in multiple players who could join the club in the winter transfer window. Reports suggest that the first signing could be a free transfer, with Dani Olmo being considered as a transfer target. The Spaniard is no longer listed with Barcelona after La Liga turned down their request to sign the attacking midfielder for the rest of the season, following the end of the special dispensation period. Atalanta’s Ederson is seen as a potential replacement for Rodri’s absence from City’s midfield, but his club, currently leading Serie A, is reluctant to let him go. Douglas Luiz, a former City midfielder now playing for Juventus, has been mentioned as a possible loan candidate. It’s also reported that Guardiola likes Crystal Palace players Adam Wharton and Eberechi Eze, while Anthony Gordon has also been added to the list of targets for City. They are “unlikely” to sign any of them until the summer after a series of departures, though. Regarding on-field activities, City will be back in action when they face West Ham at home this weekend. Guardiola will aim for consecutive victories for the first time since October, as City seeks to climb the standings and regain momentum as they enter another important phase of the season.
