Bernardo Silva has made feelings clear as Man United reach ‘verbal agreement’ for £50m ace

Ruben Amorim is said to have approved the transfer of a player tipped by Bernardo Silva to replace him at international level.. Manchester United have been linked with Sporting CP’s rising star Geovany Quenda since Amorim took charge at Old Trafford. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has indicated that United are keen to finalise a deal this summer after receiving Amorim’s blessing. In addition, talkSPORT claims that United have ‘verbally agreed’ personal terms with Quenda.. Sporting are said to value the starlet at £50million, although that may be more than United are looking to pay. Manchester City and Liverpool are also said to be interested in the teenager.. Quenda’s close ties with Amorim could sway the odds in United’s favour if competition for his signature heats up. Highlighting their connection, Quenda expressed gratitude to Amorim on social media following the latter’s move to United.. While at Sporting, Amorim openly praised the youngster, describing him as a “very talented kid”. He said: “[He’s] Very physically robust, very focused, with his feet firmly on the ground. That’s very important for a young player.. “He got his chance and there was no chance to take it away, no doubt, nothing. I think he’s going to be a great player, but let’s give it time.”. City’s Silva has also expressed his admiration for Quenda, predicting a bright future for the youngster in the Portugal team. He said: “He will probably steal my place. At 17, I wasn’t even playing for Benfica’s youth team.”. Benfica were Quenda’s first big team before he was snapped up by city rivals Sporting in 2019. Quenda made headlines in October while playing under Amorim, setting a new record as Sporting’s youngest goalscorer at just 17 years, five months and 27 days old – surpassing players including Cristiano Ronaldo. Already on the cusp of challenging Bernardo for a spot in the national side, Quenda received his first senior call-up from head coach Roberto Martinez last year, joining the squad for the Nations League double-header against Croatia and Scotland in September.
