Ruud van Nistelrooy slammed over ‘offside’ Man United winner as ‘dodgy decisions’ point made

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been criticised for his reaction to Manchester United’s controversial 2-1 win over Leicester City on Friday night.. The Reds scored a 93rd-minute winner against Van Nistelrooy’s side through a Harry Maguire header. Replays showed that the former Leicester star was in an offside position, but in the absence of VAR, Maguire’s goal was allowed to stand.. United’s victory at Old Trafford left former Reds striker and interim boss Van Nistelrooy incensed as the Leicester manager declared that his team were not defeated “in Fergie time” but “in offside time”. But ex-Sky Sports host and current beIN Sports presenter Richard Keys has little sympathy for the Dutchman.. “A lot of fuss was made about United’s winner v Leicester,” he said in his latest blog post. “Oh the irony Ruud.. “How van Nistelrooy had the cheek to complain about a decision going against his team I don’t know. How many times down the years did he benefit from United getting dodgy decisions?. “Of course there was the usual clamour by lazy pundits and journo’s claiming Maguire’s header wouldn’t have stood if technology had been available. It didn’t need VAR.. “Maguire was a mile offside. You could see that with the naked eye. It just needed our hapless officials to do their jobs properly.”. United’s win has seen the FA Cup holders set up a fifth-round tie at home to Fulham around the weekend of March 1/2. The Cottagers won 2-1 at Wigan Athletic on Saturday to set up their meeting with Ruben Amorim’s side.. Both teams were involved in a chaotic quarter-final clash two years ago, when Marco Silva’s side were reduced to nine men as United came from behind to win 3-1 at Old Trafford..
