Manchester United get Viktor Gyokeres transfer discount as next club ‘decided’

New information has come to light regarding Manchester United’s potential pursuit of Sporting Lisbon forward Viktor Gyokeres. The club has been frequently associated with the idea of acquiring a new striker for some time, but they did not acquire any players in that position during the January transfer window. It was speculated that Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel was a potential target for United, but the 19-year-old opted to go on loan to Tottenham Hotspur. Additionally, Gyokeres has been frequently linked to United, particularly since Ruben Amorim, his former coach at Sporting Lisbon, was appointed as the club’s head coach in November. The forward has netted 33 goals for Sporting this season and is expected to be one of the most desirable players in Europe this summer. As reported by the i Paper, United continues to show interest in acquiring Gyokeres and even considered making a bid in the January transfer window. Nevertheless, Sporting was reportedly insisting on the complete £83 million release clause for the forward, a sum that United were unwilling to meet. However, it seems that Sporting will reduce their asking price for Gyokeres this summer. Reports indicate that United will have the opportunity to acquire the striker for £60 million when the transfer window opens again at the season’s end, providing a significant advantage for the Reds. This information surfaces after The Sun disclosed in November that Gyokeres has already “made up his mind” to join United in the summer and reconnect with Amorim. United isn’t the only club interested in Gyokeres; Arsenal has also shown interest in the Sweden international for some time. Following their failure to acquire a striker in January, United now relies on Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund for their centre-forward positions. The Reds approved loan moves for Marcus Rashford and Antony for the rest of the season, which means Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho are now the only acknowledged senior wide forwards on the team.
