Dan Ashworth sent ‘terrible’ Manchester United message after early Ineos exit

Joe Cole criticized Dan Ashworth, the recently departed sporting director of Manchester United, for the ‘terrible’ transfer choices that have hindered the club’s progress over the past year. The 53-year-old, previously with Newcastle United, oversaw football performance and recruitment at Old Trafford. The club’s owners, INEOS, viewed him as a significant acquisition and invested £200 million on new players during the summer. After manager Erik ten Hag was dismissed just 13 matches into the season, Ashworth has also departed from the club. Currently, United sits in 13th place in the Premier League and has lost their last two games with new manager Ruben Amorim. Cole, a former midfielder for Chelsea and England, believes that Amorim has limited options due to some questionable signings.
