Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim expressed that he was “really happy” with Tyrell Malacia’s return from injury during the match against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night. The United full-back had been sidelined for over a year due to injury but returned to the starting lineup in the Europa League. Malacia was substituted at halftime as his playing time is being monitored closely. The Dutch player had some difficulties during the match, and Philip Zinckernagel capitalized on Malacia’s lack of match fitness, sprinting past him to give his team a 2-1 lead for the evening. Regardless, Amorim acknowledged that he believed Malacia performed excellently and was pleased with the courage he displayed with the ball. “It was significant for him, the confidence of everyone; I think he did very well,” he shared with MUTV. “It had been over a year since he last played, and I’m really pleased with how bravely he handled the ball.” United will play against Everton in the Premier League on Sunday, as Amorim aims to achieve his first league victory as head coach. The Portuguese coach has had few defensive choices because of injuries since he took over, but he mentioned that some of his injured players might be back this weekend. “Perhaps, we’ll have to wait and see,” he responded when asked if any players could return on Sunday. “We have one more training session; if they’re not in the starting lineup, they’ll be on the bench.”
