Long shrouded in mystery, Ophelia Frump is finally coming into focus in Tim Burton’s Wednesday for season three – and now she has a face.
It’s been confirmed that French actress Eva Green will be joining the cast of Netflix’s Wednesday season three as Ophelia, who is sister to Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and aunt to both Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) and Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez). It’s an exciting update for fans of the series, who have long wondered the fate of the missing Aunt. A woman who has loomed over the world of Wednesday, fans caught only a mere glimpse of Ophelia last season (seen from behind, wearing a flower crown, and eerily scribbling ‘Wednesday must die’ on a wall).
On joining the hit Netflix show, Eva shared, ‘I’m thrilled to join the delightfully twisted universe of Wednesday as Aunt Ophelia. The show is such a delicious blend of darkness and wit, and I can’t wait to add my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams family.’
As fans prepare for season three of Wednesday, here’s everything you need to know about Eva Green – from her long-standing friendship with Tim Burton, to her impressive net worth.
Who is Eva Green?
Eva Green is an actor, best known for playing dark and mysterious characters. It’s a role she’s more than happy to fill, saying in 2012, ‘I love playing evil characters. But they have to have a heart and not just be pure evil. People need to understand why they have become evil, they are just damaged.’ We’ll have to wait and see where Aunt Ophelia fits into this…
Outside of acting, Eva is also the co-founder of Seiun, a natural sparkling sake made of ‘rice, water… and stardust’. Sounds delicious!

Set in Victorian London, Eva appeared in the show as medium Vanessa Ives, who recruits wild west showman Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett), scientist Victor Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), and explorer Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) to track down the supernatural killers plaguing London’s streets.
Running for three seasons, the Showtime series landed Eva a Golden Globes nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama. Eva once said of the show, ‘It’s very freeing to be possessed. I find playing Vanessa to be like taking a drug. Sometimes exhausting, but also jubilating.’
As for her upcoming projects, Eva will join the cast of Wednesday season three as Ophelia Frump. Those qualities make her an ideal Aunt Ophelia.’
Has Eva Green worked with Tim Burton before?
Her Wednesday appearance will be a reunion of sorts for Eva, who has worked with the iconic director before. Tim Burton cast Eva as the witch Angelique Bouchard in his film Dark Shadows (2012), before she appeared as the title character in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children (2016). ‘Miss Peregrine is like a dark Mary Poppins,’ Eva previously told W Magazine.
Most recently, Eva appeared as Colette Marchant in Burton’s 2019 live-action adaptation of Disney’s Dumbo.
Tim once told Esquire, ‘There was something private and mysterious about [Eva], and that’s not common in this day and age. People think she’s “dark,” but she’s more interesting than that.’

Why did Eva Green go to court? Her legal battle explained
In 2023, Eva appeared in the High Court to sue production company White Lantern Films over the abandoned sci-fi film, A Patriot. According to the Casino Royale star, she was owed a $1million (£810,000) fee.
White Lantern Films claimed that Green had breached her contract, alleging her ‘unreasonable demands’ had derailed the film. Texts were shown during the trial in which Green called the filmmakers ‘weak and stupid’ – with the star later putting the comments down to her ‘Frenchness.’ The trial came to an end in 2023, with Eva winning.
What did Eva Green say about Harvey Weinstein?
In 2017, Eva was one of over 80 women who accused Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment. She had worked on the film Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, on which Weinstein had an executive producing credit.
In a statement released to Variety, Eva said, ‘I met [Weinstein] for a business meeting in Paris where he behaved inappropriately and I had to push him off me. I got away without it going further, but the experience left me shocked and disgusted.’
Weinstein is currently in prison on charges of sexual assault and rape.
Is Eva Green married? Inside her love life
Eva Green is not married, and it appears she is currently single. Most of her romances have remained outside of the spotlight, however she did date New Zealand actor Marton Csokas between the years of 2005 and 2009. After splitting due to busy filming schedules, the pair later reunited on the set of BBC’s The Luminaries in 2020 – with a source saying, ‘Their chemistry was electric.’
At another point, romance rumours swirled between Eva and Tim Burton, after some suggested she was the award-winning director’s ‘muse’. Eva shut down the speculation in 2018, writing on her Instagram, ‘Tim Burton and I are not together, unlike what the rumours say. I am very lucky to have worked with him. If I inspire him, he never told me. That is not his style: he is shy, modest, extremely sensitive.’
What is Eva Green’s net worth?
Having starred in over 30 films, it’s not surprising that Eva’s net worth is said to be around a hefty $10 million.
