President Donald Trump announced Saturday that military service members will receive their paychecks during the ongoing federal government shutdown.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that he had directed Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to utilize “all available funds” to ensure troops are compensated, citing his authority as Commander in Chief in making this decision.

The shutdown, which began on October 1, has left many federal employees without pay. While most government workers are furloughed and not receiving compensation, active-duty military personnel were facing the prospect of missing their scheduled pay on October 15.

Trump’s intervention ensures that service members will be paid on time. The source of the funds to cover military pay has not been publicly disclosed.

The Independent has contacted the White House for comment.
