They were one of Hollywood’s most high-profile power couples, but now Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are going their separate ways.
The couple tied the knot in 2006, but have now split after nearly 20 years of marriage. The news was first reported in TMZ, who cited sources who said the pair have been living apart since the beginning of the summer.
Nicole and Keith share two children together, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. Speculation around the couple first started circulating when just Nicole chose to mark their wedding anniversary on social media this year. She wrote ‘Happy Anniversary Baby’ alongside a photo of Keith, who responded with a single love heart emoji.
Although Nicole and Keith have been together for nearly two decades, she’s also dated a handful of other A-listers. We’ve broken down her dating history…
1990-2001: Tom Cruise

Nicole met Tom Cruise on the set of their 1990 film, Days Of Thunder. They got married on Christmas Eve that year and welcomed two children via adoption. However, they separated in December 2000 before going on to get divorced with Tom citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
Nicole even drew comparisons between her relationship with Cruise and Keith in a 2021 interview with Harper’s Bazaar. She said that while the split with Cruise made her ‘wary’ and ‘a little more trepidatious’, her heart was ‘open’ for Keith Urban.
2003: Q-Tip
Back in 2003, Kidman had a brief fling with A Tribe Called Quest rapper Q-Tip. They were seen out and about together on a number of occasions, including at a premiere for The Hours premiere, a White Stripes concert in New York and a broadway show. However the fling reportedly fizzled out later that year.

After Q-Tip, Nicole was romantically linked with Lenny Kravitz. According to a report in People, the pair met when Nicole subletted his apartment in Manhattan, and they fell in love. They kept their relationship under wraps at the start and, despite public appearances, only confirmed they were dating in 2003.
Leslie Dart, their spokesperson at the time, said ‘They’re very close,’ adding, ‘He’s very important to her. Beyond that, I don’t know.’
In fact, years later it emerged they had a brief engagement. Nicole hinted at this in a 2007 interview with Vanity Fair, where she said she was engaged to someone before Keith. However, it wasn’t until 2017 when working with Zoe Kravitz on Big Little Lies that she revealed that person was her father Lenny. ‘Well, I knew Zoë because I was engaged to her father. It’s all in the family! I love Lenny; he’s a great guy,’ she said.

Nicole’s longest public relationship was with Keith Urban – the pair were married for almost 20 years. They met in 2005 at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles, where they exchanged numbers. Kidman recalled their meeting in a 2017 appearance on Ellen DeGeneres. ‘I had such a crush on him and he wasn’t interested in me. It’s true!’ she said. ‘He didn’t call me for four months.’
The couple got engaged in 2006, and married in Sydney that year. They went on to have two daughters together, and Nicole frequently gushed about Keith. In a 2019 interview with Entertainment Tonight, she said: ‘I have the most extraordinary partner in life. I will always say that about him,’ adding, ‘I’m one of the very fortunate women in the world to have had a wonderful father, and I have a wonderful husband, and I’m just very — I love to be able to say that because to talk about the good men that have influenced me and affected me.’
Keith also expressed similar sentiments about Nicole. He paid tribute to her in his speech at the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala Tribute in April. Keith said: ‘Nic pushed through every negative voice – I’m sure even some of her own – and she chose love. And here we are tonight 18 years later. Her capacity to love is like no one I’ve ever met.’
Their split was reported in September 2025. According to the report in TMZ, they have been living separately ‘since the beginning of summer.’ The source told the outlet that Kidman is reportedly ‘holding the family together through this difficult time.’
