Ever the TV power couple, Stephen Graham and his wife Hannah Walters have their work life balance down to an art. As well as working together on some of the best and most impactful shows of the past 20 years – including This is England, Adolescence and Boiling Point – they have also been married for 17 years.
In 2020, they even co-founded their own production company, Matriarch Productions, where projects include the multi-Emmy winning show Adolescence, which is Netflix’s second most watched series of all time, and Boiling Point amongst others.

The married couple met while training to be actors at Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance in Kent. They got married in 2008 after five years of close friendship. ‘We were bezzie mates, which is the best way, isn’t it?’ Graham said of Hannah in 2018. ‘After a while, we just thought “this is daft”, do you know what I mean? We like each other, we should get together.’
Walters was reportedly living in Spain when Graham confessed his love for her and she returned the following day and they moved in together. ‘We went to see Saving Private Ryan, had a bite to eat in Greenwich and we were at New Cross train station and I said “please don’t go to Spain,”‘ the actor explained. ‘She asked “why?” and I said “Well, I love you.” She said she’d been waiting five years for me to say that. And the next day we moved in together. And we’ve been together ever since.’

What TV shows and films has Hannah Walters been in?
It’s likely you recognise Walters who has an impressive portfolio of acting projects under her name. In 2006, she appeared as Trudy in the Shane Meadows film This is England alongside Graham and they both appeared in the TV sequels.
Walters has also starred in Whitechapel, Boiling Point the film and series alongside Graham, Time, Malpractice, Sweet Sue and A Thousand Blows. Earlier this year, she appeared as Mrs Bailey in episode two of Adolescence.
At the 2025 Emmys, Adolescence took home eight awards. The star of the show Owen Cooper became the youngest ever male Emmy winner for his supporting role, Graham won Best Actor in a Drama and the show also picked up gongs for writing, directing and the Best Anthology Series award.
