In total, 160 “co-living” flats would be built by developer Packaged Living in a new six-storey building at 1-4 Beresford Square.
Each flat would have a bedroom, ensuite and kitchenette, with larger communal kitchens, workspaces and a gym also provided.
The existing three-storey block was built in the 1970s. Shops can still be found on the ground-floor of the building, but offices above have been vacant since 2013.
Packaged Living said: “The site in its existing condition is evidently a poor contributor to the surrounding townscape, with the clear potential for redevelopment to enhance the urban block.”
The new building would re-provide space for shops on the ground floor.
It comes amid a flurry of recent large planning applications for Woolwich, which benefits from a station on the Elizabeth line.
Earlier this month, proposals were revealed to build a 26-storey tower, over the station.
Woolwich Council’s former offices in the High Street will also soon be converted into student flats, with a new 12-storey student tower set to be built just up the road in Beresford Street.
The latest application for a co-living block in Beresford Square was received by Greenwich Council earlier this month, and a final decision is yet to be made.
