
A quarterly report published by British Transport Police (BTP) has shed light on the stop and searches conducted at stations between January and March.
According to the data, BTP officers made 3,962 stop and searches under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
Just less than half of these saw an object found as a result.
It was London Bridge railway station that was the top stop and search hotspot of all British stations within this quarter, recording 112 incidents in total.

Forty-nine of these were made under Section 1 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984, with the remaining 63 made under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971.
Under the 1984 Act, police constables are permitted to search a person if there is reasonable grounds for suspecting that they will find stolen or prohibited articles.
London Bridge Underground station saw 93 stop and searches between January and March under these acts combined.
At Stratford railway station, 37 stop and searches were recorded under the 1984 Act.
Oxford Circus Underground station is the fourth most stopped-and-searched station under this act in 2025, with 36 recorded incidents.
West Ham Underground station saw 33 stop and searches.

At Redhill railway station, BTP have revealed they conducted 43 stop and searches where officers had reasonable grounds to suspect that a person was in possession of a controlled drug.
Dartford railway station also saw 43 incidents under this act.
Euston railway station saw 40 stop and searches within this quarter.
