The restriction is to allow for new water connection works to take place.

The no-stopping order applies to the south-eastern kerb line of the high street, between its junctions with Ladywell Road and Legge Street.

This will be in effect from 8am on August 2 until 5pm on August 3, or until the work is completed, whichever is sooner.

Traffic signs will be used to indicate when and to what extent the prohibition applies.

TfL has stated that vehicles used for the water works, as well as fire brigade, ambulance, and police vehicles, will be exempt from the prohibition.

The same applies for any vehicle operating under the direction of a police constable in uniform or a person authorised by TfL.

Andrew Ulph, coordination manager at TfL, issued the notice on July 23.

The temporary order has been made under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

The purpose of the order is to facilitate the installation of a new water connection on the A21 Lewisham High Street.

The order is effective only at certain times between the stated date and time and will be indicated by traffic signs.

The prohibition will not affect vehicles being used for the purposes of the water works or emergency services.

The no-stopping zone will be clearly marked out and enforced for the duration of the works.
