Two men, 23 and 28, arrested on suspicion of kidnap after Sidcup firearms operation

Officers carried out a pre-planned operation in Blackfen Road at 5pm yesterday (July 16).

The operation was linked to an ongoing investigation following an allegation of kidnap that was reported in a separate area of London on July 11.

Two men, aged 23 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of kidnap.

They remain in police custody pending further enquiries.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Police are not able to provide further details of the allegation but there are no outstanding victims.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “On Wednesday, 16 July at 5pm police carried out a pre-planned operation on Blackfen Road, Sidcup.

“The operation was linked to an ongoing investigation following an allegation of kidnap that was reported to police on Friday, 11 July in a separate area of London.

“Two men, aged 23 and 28, were arrested on suspicion of kidnap.

“They remain in police custody pending further enquiries.

“The investigation remains on-going.

“We are not able to provide further details of the allegation but there are no outstanding victims.”
