Man charged as police officer left with multiple face fractures after Sidcup assault

The incident happened at an address in Hatherley Road near Alma Road at around 12pm on June 29. 

Officers attended the address and attempted to arrest a man.

During the incident two female PCs were assaulted.

One of the officers was taken to hospital in a serious condition with multiple face fractures.

The second officer was also taken to hospital with a broken nose and has since been discharged.

More police arrived on scene and a man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. 

Officers also provided medical aid to their injured colleagues before paramedics arrived.

Mark Weatherley, 43, from Sidcup, was charged on July 1 with grievous bodily harm.

He appeared virtually at court and was remanded in custody to next appear at Woolwich Crown Court on July 29. 

We have contacted the Metropolitan Police for an update on the injured officers.
