Works include water main installation in Belvedere, gas pipe replacement in Sidcup, and major upgrades around Ruxley Roundabout — all scheduled to start within days.
While some closures will only last a few days, others are set to continue through the summer, bringing unavoidable disruption to local roads.
Here’s a full breakdown of where and when each closure will take place:
Bronze Age Way, Erith – speed limit cut from July 7
From July 7, the speed limit on Bronze Age Way will drop from 50mph to 30mph between the Picardy Manorway roundabout and the Lower Road exit.
Parking will also be restricted on a section of nearby Church Manorway.
These changes are to allow culvert replacement work, which is expected to last up to 120 days. There are no diversion routes planned.
Gwillim Close, Sidcup – gas works start July 7
Also starting on July 7, Gwillim Close will be closed in full while new gas mains are installed.
No parking or loading will be allowed on either side of the road, and the work is due to take around four weeks.
Diversions will be in place via Blackfen Road, Danson Underpass and Park Mead, as well as routes through Wellington Avenue and Sherwood Park Avenue.
Ruxley Roundabout, Sidcup – closed from July 9
Ruxley Roundabout will close in all directions for four days from July 9 while the council carries out improvement works.
This will include closing parts of Edgington Way, Maidstone Road, Sandy Lane and North Cray Road.
Some traffic rules will be lifted to help manage the disruption — including a temporary removal of the no-entry rule on Edgington Way and weight limits on Foots Cray High Street.
Diversions will be signposted and cover a wide area, including Sidcup High Street, the A2, and Maidstone Road.
Bursdon Close, Sidcup – off-peak closures from July 11
Gas mains work will also affect Bursdon Close from July 11, with the whole road closed during off-peak hours.
Parking and loading will be banned on both sides of the road while the works are carried out, which are expected to last around four weeks.
Access will be maintained for residents and emergency vehicles.
Residents are advised to plan ahead and check signs before travelling.
