Flames can be seen covering the greenery at the heath today (July 4).
People living near or travelling near are advised to stay indoors and keep windows and doors shut due to the smoke in the area.
Six fire engines, a bulk water carrier and utility terrain vehicle are currently at the scene and crews are using wildfire equipment and hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.
There is no indication when this will be over.
