Manchester United repeat Liverpool gesture after major Arsenal kit change

Manchester United has echoed Liverpool’s decision by choosing not to wear red during the FA Cup third round match against Arsenal this afternoon for a meaningful purpose. The weekend of the FA Cup third round is consistently recognized as the Gunners’ ‘No More Red’ match. In 2022, Adidas and Arsenal introduced an initiative aimed at raising awareness about knife crime in London, especially among young people. To draw attention to this issue, Arsenal chose to wear a completely white kit instead of their traditional red. Last season, Liverpool played at Arsenal and opted not to wear their home kit, even though Arsenal decided to don white in support of a cause. Today, United has decided to replicate that gesture by wearing their blue away kit instead. Regarding the initiative, Freddie Hudson, the head of Arsenal in the Community, stated: “Knife crime and serious youth violence are very complicated issues. We don’t have all the answers to solve the problem, but we believe that our collaboration with Adidas is contributing to keeping young people safe and providing them with opportunities for better futures.” We must keep investing in safe environments where we support young people dealing with various challenges as they go through life. This is crucial for building trust and fostering positive relationships with our staff. Being involved in a positive initiative like No More Red fosters a significant feeling of belonging. “The safe environments and reliable relationships facilitate connections and opportunities such as volunteering, education, and job prospects.” As time goes on, we observe that young leaders arise from our initiatives, motivating and guiding other young individuals to make positive life decisions.
