There has been speculation about Alejandro Garnacho’s future at Manchester United in recent days. Atletico Madrid and Napoli have expressed interest in the forward this January after reports emerged that United are willing to sell him. Garnacho has had difficulty securing a consistent spot under Ruben Amorim and has seen his chances to play limited. Together with Marcus Rashford, the Argentina international was excluded from the team that defeated Manchester City before Christmas. Since then, he has kept his place in United’s squad but has mostly been utilized as a substitute. Earlier this week, MEN Sport reported that the club has removed the ‘untouchable’ label from Garnacho, along with Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Hojlund, and Andre Onana. It is believed that Garnacho is now viewed as a player who could be sold due to not fitting into Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation. He is anticipated to remain at Old Trafford after the January transfer window, but there are still uncertainties regarding his long-term prospects. Napoli has been rumored to be interested in acquiring him as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, and a return to Spain has also been suggested. A charge of approximately £42 million is said to be sufficient to permit a transfer from Manchester. Nevertheless, in spite of the speculation regarding his future, Garnacho was included in the starting lineup for Sunday’s FA Cup match against Arsenal. The 20-year-old faced a tough first half but demonstrated his skill with a clever assist for Bruno Fernandes’ first goal. After celebrating in front of the traveling United supporters, Fernandes expressed his affection for Garnacho by urging the forward to accept the cheers from the away crowd.
