Manchester United could replace Marcus Rashford with a player who has been likened to Thierry Henry.. Rashford, 27, currently has representatives in Italy attempting to secure a move to Serie A. The wantaway forward’s agent brother, Dwaine Maynard, has reportedly met with AC Milan, as well as Juventus, to discuss a possible switch to one of the Italian giants.. But while much of the focus is on the United academy product, less attention has been paid to his potential replacement. In recent weeks, Ruben Amorim’s side have been linked with a loan move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani.. The striker has struggled in Paris since his £76.4million transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in September 2023. The 26-year-old, who was involved in France’s comeback in the 2022 World Cup final, has also been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus.. Given his attributes, initially a 6’2″ wide player who transitioned into a centre forward and is known for his dribbling ability like Arsenal legend Henry, it appears he would be an excellent fit for United.. According to NBC Sports, if Amorim requests a replacement for Rashford, Kolo Muani will be high on the list. In his only full season at Frankfurt, Kolo Muani contributed an impressive 15 goals and 14 assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances. His versatility and ability to play through the middle and on either flank made him an incredibly useful player.. Despite his eye-catching performances in Germany, it was during the World Cup final that he made his mark on the world stage. Replacing Olivier Giroud before half-time, his energy and aggressive forward runs instantly lifted France.. He won France’s first penalty after chasing down a loose pass and being brought down in the box by Nicolas Otamendi, giving Kylian Mbappe the opportunity to reduce the deficit. In the final moments of extra time, Kolo Muani thought he had won the World Cup, but a legendary save from Emiliano Martinez took the game to penalties. Despite ending up on the losing side, Kolo Muani was one of only two French players to successfully score their penalty.. His spell with PSG has been challenging, however. Arriving nine months after his Qatar performance, he joined a revamped PSG squad that had been strengthened by 15 other new signings.. He was competing for a place in the front-line with fellow new arrivals Goncalo Ramos and Ousmane Dembele and then-captain Mbappe. In 54 appearances, he has only managed to grab 11 goals and seven assists for the French giants. Nevertheless, he is still young, and previous comments about his game would suggest he is suited to the Premier League.. He would face competition from Rasmus Hojlund for the no.9 position. But despite the Dane’s hard work and determination endearing him to fans, there is a growing sentiment that he may not be the one to drag United up the table.. As demonstrated in the World Cup final, Muani possesses the pressing ability and quick thinking required to spearhead United’s attack. His goal-scoring record also surpasses that of Hojlund, who is less experienced and more raw than the Frenchman.. Bruno Fernandes looks to be the first name on the team-sheet in the inside-left position, while Amad Diallo has made the right flank his own. But should either attacking midfielder suffer injury or a dip in form, Muani’s experience on both wings could prove invaluable.. United have had difficulty finding the back of the net this season, under both Amorim and former manager Erik ten Hag. Given Amorim’s lack of options presently, Muani’s versatility could be a significant asset for the Portuguese manager.. Sign up to get even more from our Man United coverage.
