Gary Neville demands action for Man City player who ‘tried to con referee’ vs Leicester City

Gary Neville has called out Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne for trying to ‘con’ the referee and win his side a penalty during their Premier League match with Leicester City.. It has been a woeful time for De Bruyne and his star-studded teammates. Having won the title four years running, City were once again tipped as the team to beat this season. However, while they started well, a dreadful run has been them slip miles behind Liverpool at the Premier League summit.. City have won just once in 13 games across all competitions. However, needing a victory to boost their campaign, the champions were celebrating inside 21 minutes against Leicester when Savinho opened the scoring – but there was one another flashpoint to cast a view over.. De Bruyne thought City might have had an opportunity to extend their lead, too. Also in the first half, the Belgium captain was felled in the penalty area under a challenge, but Michael Oliver waved away City appeals – yet Neville called for stronger action from his position in the commentary box.. The former Manchester United captain told Sky Sports: “He went down too easily, didn’t he?. “He went down too easily, you could tell. It was just awkward the way in which he fell.. “You can see he dived from up here, one of those awkward ones he probably should be booked for really.. “He has tried to con the referee there.”. De Bruyne, who has been pivotal for City in recent seasons, has similarly to his teammates not been able to match those highs so far this campaign. In between various injury setbacks, the 33-year-old playmaker has scored just two goals with as many assists – with this outing against Leicester his 12th in the Premier League this term.. City’s only win since October came on December 4 against high-flying Nottingham Forest.
