The January transfer window is almost upon us, and it’s one that Manchester United fans may be looking towards with a bit more anticipation given recent results.. United fell to their third loss in a row in all competitions on Boxing Day as goals from Matheus Cunha and Hwang Hee-Chan gave Wolves a 2-0 win. It came after Bruno Fernandes was sent off for a second bookable offence early in the second half.. The window opens in less than a week with Ruben Amorim given the chance to complete his first transfers as head coach. Eyes will first though be on the Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Monday night (8pm kick-off).. While we wait for that game, and the transfer window, we’ve taken a look at some of the stories around Old Trafford. We’ve also given our own thoughts on the situation.. Ruben Amorim admission. Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has admitted that he doesn’t know how long it will take for him to fully implement his ideas into the United squad, before seeing results. United fell to a 2-0 defeat against Wolves on Thursday, leaving them in 14th place in the Premier League table.. When asked how long it would take for him to make an impact at United, he said: “I have no idea. No idea. Instead of me trying to understand how much time it will take, just day by day.. “Improving, trying to see the videos, using every minute of training and try to win some points because it’s really important in this moment.”. He then added: “In this moment, we just have to survive and to win some time to work on the team. We already knew it. I start this job and you start with the team, a new idea, without any time to train, with a lot of games, tough games.. “We already knew it, so it’s a long journey, like I said in the first day. We have to continue, and we have to fight these bad moments because this is part of football.”. MEN says: The situation that United find themselves in, Amorim is completely right about the patience needed. While he did make a small impact when he first arrived at the club, bringing in the changes while working with a squad that is not his is going to take time to develop.. Amorim needs to be backed by the club in both the transfer window and off the pitch. While it’s a frustrating time for the fans and the club, changes don’t happen overnight.. United ‘monitoring’ transfer. Manchester United are monitoring the situation of Paris Saint Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani, according to Sky Sports Germany. Florian Plettenberg reports that the forward is set to leave the French giants in the January window with talks already taking place with clubs over a loan deal with an obligation to buy.. It is added that there is a ‘strong chance’ of him moving to the Premier League. United are linked with an interest, but it is said that they currently don’t expect a transfer to happen.. Liverpool, Tottenham and Red Bull Leipzig are three other teams who have been named as potential suitors for the 26-year-old.. MEN says: Speculation over the future of both Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee could open up the possibility of a striker being needed in the January transfer window as Amorim looks to shake his squad. It does however sound like there will be a lot of competition for Kolo Muani in the window.. It does feel like United would benefit from strengthening their attacking options. And a loan deal could be ideal in what is a difficult market, but it may just depend on outgoings at the club.. Get United transfer news and updates on WhatsApp!.
