A little over two weeks after departing from Manchester United, Ruud van Nistelrooy has been officially announced as the new manager of Leicester City. The United icon has signed a contract lasting until 2027 and will lead his first match when West Ham comes to the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night. He will be observing the match against Brentford at the G-Tech Community Stadium this weekend. His joining Leicester follows his role as Erik ten Hag’s assistant at United during the initial part of the season. Van Nistelrooy subsequently stepped in as temporary manager for four matches after Ten Hag was dismissed. Leicester chose to change their manager on Sunday by dismissing Steve Cooper. Van Nistelrooy was swiftly associated with the position, and his appointment was confirmed on Friday night. Reports indicated that United players were impressed by the Dutchman while he was coaching at Old Trafford. Two members of the United team have demonstrated this through their social media engagement. Defender Harry Maguire and winger Amad have both ‘liked’ Leicester’s official post announcing Van Nistelrooy’s appointment.
