However, with PSR concerns and Ineos’ cuts continuing, United’s stance on the matter isn’t expected to have changed. The Manchester Evening News understands that the club could not spend “another £70m on another striker” after the signing of Hojlund in 2023.. That reason was key in deciding whether to push for Ivan Toney in the summer. The former Brentford man was wanted by a number of Premier League clubs but moved to Saudi Arabia instead.. United couldn’t justify the expense of recruiting a high-profile frontman in Toney. Belief in Hojlund was, and still is, high and Zirkzee has only been at the club for four months.
