Ruben Amorim met several of his new Manchester United players for the first time today as he adjusts to his role at the club. He started as the new head coach on Monday, arriving at Carrington in the afternoon where he was welcomed by chief executive Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, and technical director Jason Wilcox. The 39-year-old returned to Carrington on Tuesday to meet some first-team players who were in for rehabilitation from recent injuries, although most of the squad is away this week on international duty or vacation. All five players have recently been sidelined due to injuries, but Mount has made his return, and Shaw and Yoro have begun training on the grass. The former Sporting CP manager, who brought five coaches with him, also met with members of United’s existing backroom staff, including Andreas Georgson and Darren Fletcher, who have kept their positions despite Erik ten Hag’s staff changes. United is still waiting for Amorim’s visa to be processed, but that is expected to be a formality in the coming days, allowing him to go on the field and conduct training sessions before his first game against Ipswich.
