Manchester United fans are losing patience as they wait for news on Erik ten Hag’s future. It was expected that this week would provide clarity on whether he will stay or leave. As time went on, it seemed like we were no closer to a decision being made. MEN Sport has now reported that Ten Hag’s future will not be determined this week but will be postponed until next week. Many in the football community see the way the Dutchman’s future is being managed as a disaster. United are considering various candidates for the managerial position. Ten Hag has been given another opportunity to demonstrate his accomplishments. Leading up to the FA Cup final, it appeared very likely that Ten Hag would be leaving regardless of the outcome, similar to Louis van Gaal. After defeating Manchester City and receiving support from the fans, it seemed like Sir Jim Ratcliffe was considering changing his stance on the matter. However, the extended period of indecision that has ensued may ultimately lead INEOS to the only viable option: retaining the manager. If Ten Hag were to depart from the club at this point, it would raise doubts about why the decision took so long. Choosing to stick with the initial decision now, after considerable delay, would damage Ratcliffe and INEOS’ reputation and portray them as indecisive rather than proactive. Retaining Ten Hag will be closely monitored, especially since the board has been considering other options. However, it could be justified by explaining that they were planning for the next season and waiting for Ten Hag to come back from vacation.
