Sir Jim Ratcliffe makes new Manchester United ‘decision’ as INEOS and Nice claims emerge

The latest reports suggest that INEOS is considering selling Nice not long after purchasing a minority share in Manchester United. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS acquired Nice in 2019 and have made substantial investments that have elevated the team to a top-half position in Ligue 1. In the 2023/24 season, they placed fifth and secured a spot back in European competition after being absent for one year. However, even with this, Nice have not participated in the Champions League for seven years. Over the course of five seasons at Nice, INEOS and Ratcliffe have invested more than £250million in player transfers, yet have not achieved any significant success. According to The Independent, INEOS is looking to sell Nice. The report states that the decision to sell the French club is in the early stages, but sources indicate that they are receptive to the idea. Find out more: United consider potential new managers. Ten Hag has been given another opportunity to demonstrate his accomplishments. Ratcliffe and INEOS completed a 27.7 percent takeover of United earlier this year and are eager to concentrate on the Reds, as Ratcliffe has achieved a lifelong dream of being part of his childhood club. Additionally, it is expected that both Manchester United and OGC Nice will receive a temporary arrangement from UEFA to participate in the Europa League for one season in an effort to address concerns about multi-club ownership. This proposed solution, similar to the one used last season for AC Milan and Toulouse, would involve placing Nice in a “blind trust” for the 2024/25 season.
