Bologna director Claudio Fenucci is troubled by the rumors surrounding Thiago Motta, who is linked to Manchester United, as well as the speculation about the club’s players following a successful season in Serie A. Erik ten Hag had a great first year as United manager, winning the Carabao Cup and securing Champions League qualification, but this season has been disappointing. The decision on Ten Hag’s future will be made by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the new management, but fans are not impressed by the potential candidates to replace him. Motta, who retired in 2018, could potentially move to United as his contract with Bologna ends in the summer. United’s decision to spend £8.5million on a player who staff had doubts about has also been criticized. United’s young player Lacey has signed their first professional contract. In his brief time as a manager, Motta has successfully prevented Spezia from being relegated from Serie A and is now leading Bologna towards a top-four finish. Under his leadership, Bologna is having their best season since 1967/1968, and the former Barcelona player has been commended for his offensive playing style. There have been reports of interest from Manchester United and Juventus in Motta, with Bologna’s director Fenucci stating that Motta is performing as if he had a long-term contract with the club. I’m not concerned that he hasn’t officially committed to traveling with us in the future. What is troubling me is the ongoing rumors and distractions surrounding our players. I am not in agreement with it. We are a resilient team, considered one of the most stable in Serie A, and we have no intention of altering our roster in the future. Seeing many of our players being rumored to move to other teams is frustrating and unsettling. I am confident that the impact of this is minimal as they are completely dedicated to our goal and content to be in Bologna. “Our team’s financial stability is due to the support of our owner. We have plans in place for the club’s growth, achievements in sports, and overall organization in the long run.
