Morten Hjulmand has confirmed that he does not plan to depart Sporting Clube de Portugal in the near future, despite rumors linking him to Manchester United before the summer transfer window. The midfielder’s strong performances at the Portuguese club have sparked speculation of a potential move to Old Trafford. Last summer, the 24-year-old player transferred from Lecce to Lions for only £18m. Since then, he has become a key player in Ruben Amorim’s team, starting in 22 Liga Portugal matches. Hjulmand was a top pick for Amorim during their Europa League campaign and has impressed Premier League clubs like Tottenham, despite only being in Portugal for a short period. Manchester United is also reportedly considering him as a potential manager. Bruno Fernandes has a three-word demand for Manchester United before the upcoming clash against Liverpool. Hjulmand and Christian Eriksen, who is also on the international team, have provided guidance and feedback to Hjulmand during the beginning of his time with the Denmark team. If United are willing to pay Sporting’s €80million (£69m) release clause, there is a possibility of the two players playing together for both club and country. The Dane, who is under contract until 2028, is currently not considering leaving Estadio Jose Alvalade. In a recent interview with the Portuguese newspaper A Bola, he expressed his great enjoyment of living with his fiancé. Living near Lisbon, in a country with great weather, delicious food, and beautiful beaches, makes it a wonderful place to be.
