Southampton boss shares update on Manchester United pursuit of Jason Wilcox

Southampton manager Russell Martin has indicated that there is a strong possibility that Jason Wilcox will join Manchester United as their new technical director. The Red Devils have shown interest in Wilcox for the position and recently approached Southampton about the possible move. Wilcox has submitted his resignation and United is offering a compensation package equal to one year’s salary to the South Coast club, claiming it fulfills a buyout clause in his contract. However, Southampton is disputing the presence of such a clause and may insist that Wilcox serves a year’s notice on his current contract before switching roles. Additionally, reports suggest that Manchester United is on the verge of making a significant signing. Man United are interested in Jason Wilcox due to the success of his top five transfers at both Man City and Southampton. Even with the current disagreement, the manager of the Saints expects Wilcox to still make the transfer. He mentioned on BBC Radio Solent that he and his coaching staff are the most impacted by this situation because Wilcox was the one who hired them at the club. Martin added that he believed the situation had not had an impact on the players. Jason is a wonderful person, I frequently have conversations with him. I have spoken to him the most in this place. The way we work and the outcomes have not been affected by it.
