Sir Jim Ratcliffe is leading Manchester United into a new era, but some fans are divided over his plans to modernize the team’s stadium. Currently, he aims to construct a brand new stadium, although some supporters prefer to see the funds invested in improving the existing Old Trafford. As a compromise, the owner of INEOS proposes building the new stadium in close proximity to the current one. Nevertheless, no matter which choice is ultimately chosen, there is a possibility that United will need to find a temporary location during the construction process. Old Trafford continues to hold significance – Ratcliffe may need to reconsider. This raises the question of where United might go. MEN Sport is considering five possible options in case they have to temporarily depart from Old Trafford to visit the Etihad Stadium. The most probable, yet least favored choice is to share the ground with Manchester City. Both fanbases are unlikely to approve of the idea, but it may be the most practical option available. City may not be willing to assist United in becoming a direct rival once more, while United may be wary of being charged high rent by City in order to maintain a competitive distance between the two clubs.
