I saw what Bruno Fernandes said about Manchester United and INEOS – it puts the Glazers to shame

Since Sir Jim Ratcliffe completed his minority takeover at Manchester United, there has been a feel-good factor around the club.. Compared to the running of the football club by the Glazers prior to INEOS’ arrival, United seem in a much better place already. On the football side of things, the appointment of Omar Berrada and the imminent arrival of Dan Ashworth have already revealed their intentions to return to the pinnacle of football.. The redevelopment of Old Trafford is another sign of Ratcliffe’s plan to reinstate United as one of the best clubs in world football in every department. However, it’s the small details that are most pleasing to see.. Captain Bruno Fernandes has recently revealed that he has met with members of the INEOS Group to discuss the long-term ambitions of the club.. This year we haven’t been and we don’t have to hide it. The season has been below our expectations, below my expectations, at least.. “And I think the club’s too, because they’re not used to being in these positions. I want to be competitive, I want to compete, I want to win.”. Fernandes continued: “I’ve already had a meeting with the new owners. They want to meet with the players and have already done so individually, and that was exactly the message I sent.”. Quite simply, the Glazers should be ashamed. There has been hardly any personal interaction with players by the American family. In fact, the complete disconnect has played a huge role in the drop-off over the last decade.. INEOS’ responsibility of running football operations will hopefully see United knock the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool off their perch at the top of English football. As mentioned above, the smaller details will only unite the players and work towards the ultimate goal.. “I want to stay here, Fernandes added of the future, which is already looking brighter under INEOS’ watchful eye. “I want to be part of a project that has feet, legs, torso and head, everything that is needed so that we can compete with Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool, which are the clubs that have been in the best shape. City and Liverpool above all, and Arsenal, which in the last two or three years has also been growing.. “After last year, when I think we had a good season for the expectations that existed and for my expectations… I was aware that I wasn’t going to be at the same level as Liverpool and City, I was aware of that, but I was also aware that we could compete or be closer, and we were closer to competing with them, we reached two finals, we won one, we lost another, we reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League.. “But from last season to this one there wasn’t that continuity that we should have here, which would have made us even more competitive, a team more in line to be in the top places.”. The Glazers have been absent owners for much of their regime and results have only suffered. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS’ approach, thankfully, already appears like it’s going to be far different.
