Three Manchester City players were left out of the England squad this week, but there was an extra face from the club in Gareth Southgate’s training group on Wednesday.. Jack Grealish is recovering from injury, while Rico Lewis is back with the under-21s and Kalvin Phillips was left out completely as he faces a fight for his club and international future. That leaves Phil Foden, John Stones and Kyle Walker in the England squad to face Brazil and Belgium.. On Wednesday, however, there was another City player called up, with 17-year-old Youth Team centre-back Kian Noble accompanying the squad for an experience of a lifetime.. With Harry Kane, Jordan Henderson, Bukayo Saka and Cole Palmer all training individually, Southgate called up Noble, who has captained the Young Lions up to under-17 level. The ball-playing centre-back from Doncaster has trained with the City first team, and named Stones and Walker as senior players who have helped him along at the CFA, while Foden could be seen walking out with Noble to training at St George’s Park on Wednesday.. BBC Sport report that Noble was selected as he was suspended for the under-17 fixture on Wednesday so could not play.. Speaking to MEN Sport last month, Noble described the feeling of captaining England at youth level. “It’s brilliant, it’s the national anthem that gets me all the time,” the likeable defender said. “You think about your family and where you’ve come from. I really enjoy it. I always see my mum and dad and brother, it’s great to see them on your journey. They always come to every game when they can.”. When discussing his experiences of training with the City first team, he explained how the call-ups give him motivation to take back to his age group.. “It gives you more motivation, wanting to be there,” he said. “You see the lads like Rico, Phil, Cole who have made the step over, it makes you want to do well and have more. When you train with them, you see the standard that you’ve got to reach and strive to.. “It’s the little nuances that the first team pros know about. They know what to do, not ‘cheats’, but nuances you can bring into your game. The defensive concepts that they tell you and show you when you’re over there, it’s vital for your development.. “They’re all really good, all top professionals and top lads. They’re so professional. The Yorkshire lads will speak to me. They look out for you, Walker’s been brilliant, giving you information like what side to be on, what direction to face and defensive principles.. “All the nuances he knows, he’s been really open and helped me out. They ask you how the games have been, it shows the club culture and how they’re doing so well.”
